Free Motorcycle Repair and Service Manual represents Yamaha’s new YZ450F, which is set to turn the motocross world upside down.
The new YZ-F not only has its exhaust port facing the rear of the bike, the engine itself is rearward-slanted so its weight is placed near the center of the bike. Free Motorcycle Repair says this Yamaha’s design makes the big YZ feel more agile than other 450s, even approaching that of a 250cc 2-stroke machine.
What’s new has seen Free Motorcycle Repair and Service Manual? A reversed engine, underseat fuel tank, tornado exhaust, titanium valves and fuel injection. Only the wheels and brakes are carry-over items from '09.
Squirting fuel is now the responsibility of a 44mm Keihin throttle-body injection, using a modern 12-hole injector for best atomization. This electronic system can be electronically fine-tuned with a GYTR Power Tuner (about $250).
Aluminum frame is gorgeous,in opinion Free Motorcycle Repair and Service Manual. Note the S bend in profile and from the top. A lightweight aluminum frame is a given, but the YZ’s is a unique “bilateral” design with a double S bend. It starts with a die-cast head pipe and then mixes in a blend of 15 forged and extruded aluminum components for careful combo of strength and flex. The slinky looking main frame tubes are built from hydroformed extruded aluminum. Full of fluids, the 450 purportedly scales in at 245 lbs.
Also new is the sharper bodywork similar to the new YZ250F, with black sections of plastic in wear areas around the knee and boot sections to better hide inevitable scuffing.
The YZ450F will be available in two colors: Team Yamaha blue and white; or white with red accents and black wheels.
